The OCSMP Model Builder – Fundamental certification validates the knowledge and skills necessary to create a fundamental SysML model for a system. The assessment covers model concepts and organization, basic requirements capture and management, structure and behavior models, parametric models, allocation relationships, and the utilization of stereotypes. With the knowledge and skills acquired at this level, along with proficiency in a suitable SysML modeling tool, a certified individual should be an effective contributor to modeling tasks undertaken by a Systems Engineering team adopting a model-based systems engineering approach using SysML. The OCSMP Model Builder – Fundamental Certification serves as a prerequisite for the program’s two advanced levels, with the OCSMP Model User Certification being a mandatory prerequisite for it.

This examination (along with others in the OCSMP series) evaluates your ability to apply the listed knowledge and skills within the context of a system model. As you study, look beyond individual diagrams to understand how the aspects modeled in one diagram can influence or affect aspects of the system represented in other diagram types.
