Course Outline
Day 1
Settling In and Preparation Formalities
Preparation of materials, settling of participants, and refreshments.
Module 1: My Confidence, My Stage
Understanding the importance of self-confidence in the success of public speaking delivery and personal expression.
Activity 1: I Am Me
Participants will take centre stage to share information about themselves, helping to build confidence and self-esteem.
Module 2: The Power of Influence and Persuasion – How to Make People Listen
Discussion on the importance of implying and delivering ideas that aim to influence, inspire, and capture attention.
Activity 2: The Blind Guide
Three participants from each group will attempt to build a tower using LEGO or building blocks with alternating colours, while two of them are blindfolded. Only one team member will remain unblindfolded to serve as the captain, leading the two blindfolded members with verbal instructions as the sole source of guidance. One blindfolded participant will handle the building, while the other relays the instructions.
Synthesis Session
Summary and discussion on the importance of the previous session.
Module 3: Public Speaking and Its Structure
Discussion on the structure of public speaking, preparation techniques, and key considerations for delivery.
Activity 3: My Crazy Story
Participant groups will create a story based on a single source topic.
Module 4: Construction and Delivery of the Speech
The session will focus on constructing the core message of the speech, identifying effective delivery strategies, and personal preparation.
Final Synthesis and Assignment Delivery
Participants will be assigned one of the following topics for a discussion lasting a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes.
Day 2
Activity 1: Delivery of Identified Topics through Public Presentation
Module 5: Merging Public Speaking and the Internet Superhighway
